Wanderlust

Off to Cambodia! I was surprised at how few people we talked to in the islands area and Bangkok had planned to go to Cambodia. I have read that it is a beautiful country and they use US dollars as their currency so it's easy to navigate. There's one primary reason we intended to head there: Angkor Wat. It's a giant area of temples, some reconstructed and some left in disrepair. ***This is a long post*** Famous Tree at Ta Som Temple When we booked our flight at 6:20am we were concerned about how early it was. Turns out that on this trip we just get up really early all the time no matter what so it was easy haha. Our hotel was only about a 10-minute walk to the airport but they have a free shuttle so we took it. Getting through security and stuff was easy (after 5 flights so far this trip, this is old hat). Our favorite smoothie bar We woke up in our hotel bright and early (we always wake up early) and both of us were feeling much better. Lacey slept much better and I was ready to restart and get cracking on our travel plans for the day. We got the breakfast buffet again. It was the same pretty good food and same amazing view of the beach. After breakfast, we got another smoothie from our favorite stand. Our main morning concern was figuring out how to get across the bay to the big island of Phuket for the next leg of our journey. There were 3 options for us to choose between: a short boat ride/loooooong minivan ride in the morning, a medium speedboat ride and short van ride in the morning, or a short boat and van ride in the afternoon. We had discussed doing an island boat tour in the morning and then doing the afternoon boat and van but the cost of those combined was very, very steep. We also didn't want to spend all day in a minivan so we chose the speedboat option. It ended ...

Friday night was not good for Lacey. Because of her cold, she only got an hour or two of sleep. She tried to power through and we got the breakfast buffet from our hotel. It was one of the weirdest buffets I've ever seen. They had normal Western staples like pancakes and waffles and toast. Mixed in were normal Southeastern Asia staples like stir-fry chicken and spicy soup. Also, the bacon and sausage were made of chicken and looked odd. After finally regaining my appetite the night before, I scarfed  down a bunch of the Western stuff (helloooo carbs haha). The view during breakfast was to die for, as it always is at Railay. Phranang Beach featured hairy men in speedos lol We wandered around to a bunch of different little stores trying to find some decongestant for Lacey. We're dumb and checked our hotel store last. Of course, that store was the only one to have it. After getting the medicine she needed, Lacey rested up. I watched "Star Trek Discovery" on Netf...
