Reflections on Paris, Morocco, Portugal

A few months after our trip to Southeast Asia, I did a post that reflected on some of the things we would have done differently or changed on that trip. Along with lots of talking about wedding ideas, we've also done a lot of talking about what we would change about our most recent trip to Paris, Morocco, and Portugal.

Transportation:
Honestly, we wouldn't really change anything on any of our transportation. Charlotte as a layover was pretty nice and we had plenty of time for the transfer. We had kind of a lot of plane rides on the trip because we were bopping around but the flights were all very manageable and airports were easy to get to. I really enjoyed the train from Lisbon to Porto so maybe we will try and do something like that again in the future. Overall, flying to a bunch of places versus staying in one country worked out really well for us.

Paris:
Again, we wouldn't change much about our time here. We LOVED the Bastille area where our AirBNB was. We got a couple bug bites there and the cat had a pooping problem but those are honestly minor things. Our food choices were, for the most the most part, absolutely incredible (intestine sausage notwithstanding). We saw every single point of interest we wanted to see. The only possible change I can think of is that we could have skipped Versailles but even that was enjoyable and it was important for Lacey to see it. Sooo yeah, we did a good job!

Morocco:
Here's where our main changes would be. We spent way too much time in Fes. It's hard because we sort of had to spent that amount of time there to make sure we got a bus ticket to Chefchaouen. Knowing what we know now though, we could have gotten a bus ticket sooner and figured it out. Or, as much as I loved Chefchaouen, we should have gone to Marrakech after Fes. Or we maybe should have just skipped Morocco and gone to Barcelona. Long story short, we spent way too much time in Fes city and really needed to mix that up somehow.

There's also the bed bug situation. Lacey and I have traveled a lot and I've never had a bed bug issue before. That's certainly on our radar now!! The second our room smelled like it did, we should have asked for a different room. Alternatively, we should have researched about bed bugs before we decided to go there.

Portugal:
Nothing to change except more time here to explore and see more of this incredible country. This place was a dream from beginning to end and we loved every second of it.

This write up maybe isn't as interesting as the Thailand one was because we did such a good job on this trip. As I said, the only real change would be switching some stuff up in Morocco so we weren't in Fes city so long. Otherwise, a great trip. For our next trip, we really want to see some mountains whether that's in Vietnam, Peru, Slovenia, or Montana or somewhere else!
